Walter Earl Callen
HARLINGEN - Walter Earl Callen, 73, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2002 at his residence in Harlingen.
Walter was born in Butler, PA on February, 16, 1929 to Charles and Hulda Callen. He served in the U.S. Air
Force and was discharged as a Master SGT, he married Dorothy Mackey February 18, 1949 and in 1953 they moved to Harlingen.
Walter attended the Baptist Seminary for three years and was employed with Burns Security and Valley Postal in Sales and Service
for many years. He also was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Harlingen. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mackey
Callen of Harlingen; sons, Howard Wayne Callen of Pineville, LA and Dale Walter Callen of Harlingen; brothers, Lloyd Trudell
Callen of New Philadelphia, OH and Thompson Lemoye Callen of Battlecreek, MI. Visitation hours will be held Monday, February
18, 2002 form 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services
will be held at the Central Baptist Church in Harlingen, 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2002. Entombment will follow at
Mont Meta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Douglas McCorkle. Jess Ward, Roy Olivo, Matthew Schumacher, Clyde Callen,
and Dale Callen, Jr.
