HOW I GOT STARTED ~

My father’s, grandfather came to America from England, and since I was a child different members of the family have came over from England to visit the family here. I remember the way they talked, the stories they told, and how their money was different then ours.

When we got our first computer, I bought the family tree maker program and begin working on my Grandma’s family (her Dad came from England). My Dad and I put together a family tree with pictures for everyone at the next Faulconbridge Reunion. Everyone in the family was so helpful.

One night as I was working on the final copy and printing it out. My Mom came out and said it won’t be hard to do my side, I am the only one left in my immediate family. So, I wanted to find her family ~ cousins. I picked the Schell side to work on since I am named after them “Shelly.” My Mother’s, Mother was Mary Cecel Schell Ritenour. After we got together with several Schell Cousins the Schell Family Reunion was formed and started  about a year later.

Genealogy -

Hobby turns to passion for genealogy buffs!

Genealogy is like playing hide and seek. They hide... I seek!

Isn't genealogy fun? The answer to one problem leads to two more!

A Geneologist Prayer

Lord, help me dig into the past,
And sift the sands of time;
That I might find the roots that made
This family tree of mine.

Lord, help me face the ancient roads,
On which my fathers trod;
And led them through so many lands,
To find our present sod.

Lord, help me find an ancient book
Or dusty manuscript
That is safetly hidden now away
In some forgotten crypt.

Lord, let it bridge the gaps that haunt
My soul when I can't find,
The missing link between some name
That ends the same as mine.

Me And My Family!!!!

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
Had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
Feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us.

Dear Ancestor
  Dear Ancestor,
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is to late too mourn.
You did not know that I exist,
You died before I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh and blood and bone,
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely on our own.
Dear Ancestor,
The place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come and visit you.
