James V. Sylvester, 90; retired railroad yardmaster
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony Church for James H. Sylvester, 90, of 2074 North
Road, Warren, formerly of Youngstown, who died Mondy of a heart attack in Warren General Hospital. Mr. Sylvester
was born Nov. 18, 1898, in Conneaut, as son on Vencentio and Maria Caruso Sylvester. He retired in 1960 as a yardmaster
for the Youngstown & Northern Railroad, where he had worked for 54 years. He was a member of the church and Eagles
Lodge 213. He was also active in Civil Defense during World War II. His wife, the former Mary Elizabeth Clark, whom
he married May 5, 1915 died in 1972. He leaves six sisters, Mrs. Theresa Rubino and Mrs. Antionette Thomas, both Aliquippa,
Pa., Mrs. Pauline Fabilli of Struthers, Mrs. Ann Tarantine and Mrs. Jane Sorvillo Acierno, both of Youngstown, and
Mrs. Viola Biondo of San Diego; a brother, Micheal of Aliquippa; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A
son, Harold; three sister, Mrs. Julia Amichetti, Mrs. Ann Ingotvate and Mrs. Mary Masternick, and a brother, Joseph, are
deceased. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Schiavone Funeral Home.
