SAEGERTOWN — Goldie (Dolly) Ellen Schell, 80, resident of 18771 Porky St., Saegertown, died
Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Born Dec. 1, 1926, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Duncan McClearn and Goldie McCartney
McClearn.
Of the Cambridge area, she had made her home with her oldest son, Daniel Schell, since 2000. On
July 27, 1944, she married Daniel Leroy Schell Sr.; he preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2004.
For more than 30 years she was employed by San Rosario Nursing Home (now Golden Living Center) in
Cambridge Springs, first in the housekeeping department and then as a nurse’s aide. She retired in 2000.
Her varied interests included reading, working puzzles, crocheting, cooking and baking. She had
a particular fondness for children and was known as a very giving person.
Family surviving her include five sons, Daniel Schell Jr. and his wife, Lois, of Saegertown, John
Schell of Bay Point, Calif., Frank Schell and his wife, Jeanne, of Hayward, Calif., Richard Schell of Carlton, Ky., and Terry
Schell of Geneva; two daughters, Patricia J. Lewis and her husband, John, of Venango, and Deborah Schell and her friend, Bruce
Schreiver, of Cambridge Springs; 10 grandchildren, Donald Schell, Jesse Schell, John Lewis, Nick Lewis, Rochelle Schell, Lisa
Creamer, Tina Schell, Jackie Schell, Susan Schell and Caitlyn Lewis; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Reilly of
Barberton, Ohio; a brother, Judson McClearn and his wife, Linda, of Canadohta Lake; and a half brother, John Schell of Hubbard,
Ohio.
Two grandsons preceded her in death, Daniel L. Schell III and Frank C. Schell Jr.; and several brothers
and sisters.
Friends may call at Van Matre Family Funeral Home Inc., 335 Venango Ave., Cambridge Springs, Sunday
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to the funeral there Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jeff Wilson, pastor of Christ
Evangelical Free Church in Saegertown, will officiate.
Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
