Funeral is Thursday for George E.
Schell Sr., 1219 Georgetown Road,
New Vernon Township, who died
Sunday (1-30-00) in his home of natural
causes. He was 75.
Mr. Schell was born March 30,
1924, in Stoneboro to Daniel L. and
Nellie E. Saye Schell.
He served in the Army during
World War II in Italy and France.
Mr. Schell retired in 1983 from
Shenango, Inc., Sharpsville, after 30
years of service. Previously, he
worked for the former New York
Central Railroad in Stoneboro.
He was a Protestant.
Mr. Schell belonged to American
Legion Post 919, Fairview Township;
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6345,
Mercer; and was a lifetime member
of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and
playing golf.
Surviving are: his wife, the former
Jane Ringer, at home, whom he married
Dec.
31, 1946;
five daughters,
Carol A. Saylor, James-town; Mrs.
Donald (Linda) Cushing, Kissimmee,
Fla.; Mrs. Gary (Kathy) Patterson,
Drums, Pa.; Mrs. Larry (Debra)
Beougher, Transfer; and Mrs. James
(Vicki) Dixon, Stoneboro; three sons,
George E. “Butch” Jr., Fredonia;
Gary L., Jackson Center; and
Thomas E., Stoneboro; two brothers,
John B., Hubbard; and Daniel L.,
Cambridge Springs; a half sister,
Sylvia Riley, Cambridge Springs; and
four half brothers, Duncan Mc-
Clearn, Jamestown; David McClearn,
Irwin, Pa.; Steven McClearn, Venango,
Pa.; and Judson McClearn,
Springboro, Pa.; 19 grandchildren;
and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Donna; a sister, Ida Mae
Brown; two brothers, Robert and
William Schell; and two half brothers,
Henry and James McClearn.
Memorial contributions may be
made to a charity of the donor’s
choice.
