John F. Clark, cigar maker, who had lived here for several years, died at his home on Sycamore Street Sunday night of tuberculosis, after an illness of several months he was 36 years old. and was born in Henderson County, N.J. He is survived by his wife, Emma Clark, and six small children, besides the following brothers and sisters, all of this city: Charles L. Mahlon, Mrs. Anna Palsley, and Mrs. Cordella Hoover.

SON OF CITY ASSESSOR DIES OF TUBERCULOSIS

 

John Franklin Clark, a well known cigar maker of the city, died at his home, 9 Sycamore Street, at seven o’clock last evening of tuberculosis after a lingering illness. He had been unable to follow his occupation for a considerable period and friends for sometime past had no hope of his recovery.

Mr. Clark was 36 years of age and was born in Huntingdon County, coming to this city with his parents a number of years ago. He was a member of the Central Christian Church and much interested in that congregation.

His wife survives him and six small children. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon S. Clark, his father being one of the city assessors, two brothers and two sisters. These are Charlie L. Clark, and Mahlon S. Clark, Mrs. Anna Heasley, and Mrs. Cordelia Roberts, all of this city.

The funeral arrangements have not been completed.

John Franklin Clark

At his home, No. 9 Sycamore Street occurred the death Sunday evening of John Franklin Clark, a well known young business man. About six months ago his health began to fail, and he became gradually weaker until death came at 7 o’clock last night. Tuberculosis was the cause of death.

Mr. Clark was 36 years of age; He was born in Henderson County, N.J. but had lived in this city a number of years past. By occupation he was a cigar maker, his place of business being located on Pennsylvania Avenue. E was a young man well liked by many friends and his loss will be deeply regretted in the community.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Clark, and six small children besides the following brothers and sisters, all of this city: Charles L. and Mahlon Clark, Mrs. Anna Palsley and Mrs. Cordelia Hoover.

Mr. Clark was a member of the Central Christian Church and a young man of many excellent characteristics. The hour for the funeral will be announced later.

Funeral of Mr. Clark

The funeral of the later J. Franklin Clark was held Wednesday afternoon at the residence, 9 Sycamore Street, and was attended by many friends. The services commenced at the hour of 2, and were in charge of Rev. Francis M. Biddle, pastor of the Central Christian Church, and of Rev. H. E. Stafford, pastor of the Mahoning town Third Christian Church. Both divines spoke highly of the deceased, and spoke words of comfort to the sorrowing relatives. Many flowers were sent by friends.

The burial was at Oak Park Cemetery, and the pallbearers , all brothers-in-law of the deceased, were John, William, and Charles Keith, George Miller, Roy Hoover, Lewis Heisley
